Grand Manan is the largest island in the Bay of Fundy, and is the primary island in
the Grand Manan Archipelago. Surprisingly, it lies only 15Km, (9Mi.) from
Lubec,ME, the easternmost point in the US! It is 34 km (16 miles) long and 18 km
(11 miles) wide. Grand Manan has a fascinating Geological history and because it
is home to 336 bird species, attracts birders from around the world. The Grand
Manan Museum has an outstanding exhibit of mounted bird specimens, and Rock
Specimens, as well as historical exhibits.
Because of the fertile fishing grounds around Grand Manan, the
Maliseet-Passamaquoddy-Penobscot Indians were the first seasonal residents
and the first year-round settlements of white people were established in the late
18th century. Eventually, Grand Manan evolved into an island community with 5
main villages, each with its own history and local pride that is still evident today,
though consolidation took place in 1995. Fishing and fishing related industries
have long supported the island and today as always, the pulse of the island is set
by the tides.
Summer residents have long frequented Grand Manan and many seasonal
artists, writers, and outdoor enthusiasts among others have made this their
source of inspiration. The spectacular natural environment is complimented by a
broad range of yearly special events.

Your cottage suite belongs to you during your holiday and has its own private
entrance. It includes a fully equipped Kitchen, Linens for Kitchen and Beds,
Blankets and towels, Cable TV, DVD player, High-Speed Internet, Queen Size
Bed and a Sofa-Bed. All you need to bring are clothes, and your adventure awaits!
Grand Manan offers a wide range of diverse activities that enable you to create
your own unique vacation! Whale and Seal Watching, Kayaking, Biking, Beach
Combing, Hiking, Shopping, Museums and Libraries, High Tea, Homespun
Church Bazaars, the Farmers Market and Yard Sales, Tennis and Golf, Fine
Dining and Casual Picnics, Photography Excursions, Sea Glass hunting, Rock
Picking and MORE, are all yours to enjoy...But your vacation will direct itself as you
become familiar with Grand Manan, its engaging history, charming people and
unique island events.
SeaGlass Suite sits on a cliff, right at the edge of the ocean, overlooking the
Fisherman's Wharf in North Head with dramatic views out to sea as well as down
the island shore. Relax while watching the fishing boats from your private deck as
they leave for work in the morning and return with their catch each day at dusk.
Stanley Beach, immediately below, is a popular recreational beach, well known
for its abundant sea glass supply. It is an easy walk or bike ride to the Ferry,
Kayak and Whale Watching Tours, Gift Shops, Restaurants, Whale and Bird
Research Station and Maritime Museum, as well as many services. The Studio,
overlooking the Sea, is washed with abundant natural daylight through the
over-sized windows, and is furnished with an easel for artists and a desk for
writers. The SeaGlass Suite has two Private Entrances and parking.
CreekSide Cottage is located on a private and secluded lane, tucked into the
woods next to a little creek. Also in North Head, It boasts open spaces that invite
creativity, so an Artist's Easel and a Writer's Desk are provided. It is the perfect
place to relax and renew, birdwatch, read, paint, sketch or meditate. This is the
perfect base camp from which to explore the magical wonders of Grand Manan.
CreekSide Cottage is only a few minutes walk to Pettes Cove to watch the seals
frolic, to pick rocks, photograph or to collect sea glass; or to visit gift shops,
restaurants, and the many sights and conveniences in the North Head area. Take
a short walk up a meandering path by the water to your little deck in the woods by
the creek...Relax and refresh over lunch or drinks...or while reading that long
awaited novel in the hammock built for two!!
SeaSide Cottage Suite is the newest addition to our portfolio of unique
holiday get-aways. Presently under construction, it will be ready to receive guests
in July. It offers a cozy and efficient refuge from the pressures and monotony of the
work-a-day world. SeaSide is the little sister to its larger twin, SeaGlass, (located
just above it). It consists of bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a full bath with
shower, and an open living space, which includes a dinette, kitchenette, and living
space. SeaSide also has a large, fully furnished covered deck that is private, and
lots of sunny seating just outside the door. It is conveniently located on the ground
level, with expansive ocean vistas; and It enjoys the same benefits of location that
SeaGlass does.
